The Virtual University is first of the Pakistan University based entirely on up to date Information and Communication Technologies, was recognized by the Government as a community zone, not-for-profit organization with a comprehensive mission: to give tremendously inexpensive world class education to aspiring learners all over the state.

The Virtual University is established in 2002 by the Government of Pakistan to encourage distance education in up to date Information and Communication Technologies as its main objectives, the university is well-known for its online sermons and broadcasting precise programs despite of their students' bodily locations.

The Virtual University provides higher education programs all the way through electronic media, classically the Internet. Several are bricks-and-mortar institution that provides online education as part of their comprehensive university course while others exclusively offer online courses.
